Biomass Boilers

Although wood chip can be practical for very large properties, for domestic heating, log and wood pellet boilers are generally applicable.

For those clients with access to a free or low-cost supply of wood, log boilers can be a really economical form of heating. For clients who either do not have a readily available supply of wood, or who do not want the hassle of dealing with logs, wood pellets make an incredibly efficient (and fully automated) alternative.

Because the amount of carbon released when the wood is burned equates to the amount of carbon taken from the atmosphere during the tree’s growth, this fuel is considered carbon neutral at its source.  Even taking into account the carbon cost of processing and transportation,  biomass heating is still by far the most environmentally friendly heating solution available.

Unlike heat pump systems, biomass systems can generally bolt on to existing heating distribution as they generate high-grade heat much like a traditional fossil fuelled boiler. This makes biomass particularly suitable for retrofitting into existing properties, especially older properties with relatively poor levels of insulation.
